Audio Art 2013
21. Audio Art Festival
Kraków, 20. July – 24. November
|
|
Audio Art is an experimental and postmodernist art of the close of XX century and the beginning of the XXI century.
Audio Art is an integration of sound and visual art. Presentation of Audio Art appears in form of the concert,
performance and installation. Audio Art creates new concept of sound source: as an object and musical instrument
in certain space and time. Audio Art is a "one person art": composer, designer and performer unify the whole process
of art creation. Audio Art uses low and high technology. Audio Art Festival presents individual artists from all over the world.
Festival also presents other non-audio art events extending the whole image of the art based on sound.
Audio Art Festival events are webcasted live.

Audio Art jest eksperymentalną i postmodernistyczną sztuką przełomu wieków.
Audio Art to integracja sztuk wizualnych z dźwiękowymi. Audio Art występuje w formie koncertów, performance i instalacji.
Audio Art tworzy nową koncepcję źródła dźwięku: obiektu i instrumentu muzycznego w określonej przestrzeni i czasie.
Audio Art jest sztuką personalną: kompozytor, konstruktor i wykonawca unifikują cały proces tworzenia i wykonania dzieła.
Audio Art używa prostej i zaawansowanej technologii.

GEGENSCHEIN is a new audio visual performance project by Berlin artists Mike Majkowski (double bass) and Jamie Drouin (sine tones) that examines sonic events which exist solely as a by-product of multiple sounds interfering with one another. The project references the astrological phenomenon whereby a faint brightening of the night sky manifests through backscattered light on interplanetary dust. In a similar way, Drouin and Majkowski seek to highlight sonic phenomena which are cloud-like by-products, manifesting through the interaction of Majkowski’s double bass and Drouin’s computer-produced sine tones. Gegenschein functions to both highlight acoustic phenomenon and to create a unique, and surprisingly orchestral experience, out of the interference of sound vibrations.
Mike Majkowski (b.1983, Australian) is a double bassist and composer living in Berlin. Active across a wide spectrum of contemporary music, Majkowski has been working the fields of improvised, composed and exploratory music as a performer, composer, collaborator and organizer since 2001. He holds an active interest in developing, extending and refining technical possibilities for the double bass.
Majkowski performs as a soloist, as well as with a number of collaborative projects which include: Blip (duo with Jim Denley), Roil (trio with Chris Abrahams & James Waples), Bass Love III (duo with Morten J. Olsen) and Konzert Minimal (Berlin-based collective performing music by Michael Pisaro, Antoine Beuger, and Peter Ablinger, amongst others). He has toured extensively throughout Australia, New Zealand and Europe, and has conducted workshops on improvisation and composition across Australia, as well as within Germany and Poland.
Berlin-based artist Jamie Drouin (b.1970, Canadian) explores auditory phenomenon and the subtleties of listening through installations, recorded works, and performance. Common threads in his work are the examination of ‘residual’ electronic sounds and our relationship with this palette in domestic spaces, as well as the sculptural perception of sound.
Drouin’s work has been featured at numerous international venues, including the Biennial of the Americas (Denver), Mutek (Montreal), TodaysArt (The Hague), Decibel Festival (Seattle), Montréal Museum of Contemporary Art (Montreal), Henry Art Gallery (Seattle), Communikey (Boulder). His recorded works have been published by Caduc, con-V, Oral, Rhizome_s, Dragon’s Eye Recordings, Mutek_Rec, Rope Swing Cities, and Infrequency Editions. He has collaborated with several international artists including recent projects with Lucio Capece, Johnny Chang, Crys Cole, Olaf Hochherz, Hannes Lingens, Seiji Morimoto, Lance Austin Olsen, Mathieu Ruhlmann, and Sabine Vogel.
